The landscape and oral traditions surrounding his grandparents’ home in Ixtepec, Oaxaca, hold particular significance, shaping his fascination with nature, the wild and the ways stories are passed from one generation to another. Working through a figurative and symbolic language, Becerril creates images that invite curiosity rather than offering immediate answers. There is a deliberate sense of mystery in his work — enough is revealed to draw us in, while something always seems to remain beneath the surface.
